You can get the Cisco VPN client source using the following command:<br \/><span style=\"font-family:courier new;\">wget ftp:\/\/ftp.cs.cornell.edu\/pub\/rvr\/upload\/vpnclient-linux-4.8.00.0490-k9.tar.gz<br \/>tar zxvf <\/span><span style=\"font-family:courier new;\">vpnclient-linux-4.8.00.0490-k9.tar.gz<br \/>cd vpnclient\/<br \/><\/span><span style=\"font-family:courier new;\">wget http:\/\/tuxx-home.at\/projects\/cisco-vpnclient\/vpnclient-linux-2.6.22.diff<br \/>patch &lt; vpnclient-linux-2.6.22.diff<br \/>.\/vpn_install<br \/><\/span><br \/>I got this information from the following <a href=\"http:\/\/www.longren.org\/2007\/05\/17\/how-to-cisco-vpn-client-on-ubuntu-704-feisty-fawn\/\">blog<\/a>. <br \/>I ran into an error whereby the kernel sources were not found for the VPN client to install.  I then got the BackTrack3 kernel sources.<br \/><span style=\"font-family:courier new;\">cd \/lib\/<\/span><br \/><span style=\"font-family:courier new;\">wget <\/span><a style=\"font-family: courier new;\" href=\"http:\/\/www.offensive-security.com\/kernel.lzm\" target=\"_blank\">http:\/\/www.offensive-security.com\/kernel.lzm<\/a><br \/><span style=\"font-family:courier new;\">mkdir test<\/span><br \/><span style=\"font-family:courier new;\">lzm2dir kernel.lzm test<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Now go into the vpnclient directory and execute the following:<br \/><span style=\"font-family:courier new;\">.\/vpn_install<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Accept the defaults (except in my case I selected &#8220;No&#8221; on automatically start VPN client).  When it asks for the sources point it to:<br \/><span style=\"font-family:courier new;\">\/lib\/test\/usr\/src\/linux-2.6.21.5<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Then the VPN Client should compile without any issues.  Then you just need to place your Cisco VPN client Profile  (.pcf) in the <span style=\"font-family:courier new;\">\/etc\/opt\/cisco-vpnclient\/Profiles<\/span> directory.  You will need to first start the VPN client service first using:<br \/><span style=\"font-family:courier new;\"><br \/>\/etc\/init.d\/vpnclient_init start<br \/><\/span><br \/>Once the service is started just connect using:<br \/><span style=\"font-family:courier new;\"><br \/>vpnclient connect mypcffile user test password &lt;whatever&gt;<br \/><\/span><br \/>Please note that the full name of the Profile file in the above case is mypcffile.pcf but I&#8217;ve deliberately excluded the .pcf extension. <br \/>This should work.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I wanted to install Cisco VPN client on BackTrack3.
