However, there were some issues in getting it to work on Kubuntu 6.10 Edgy Eft with my Intel Wireless IPW3945abg.<br \/>So I decided to put my \/etc\/network\/interfaces and the \/etc\/wpa_supplicant.conf files up here for reference:<br \/>Suppose BLAH is my ESSID name.  The psk value is an altered value for elucidation purposes only:<br \/><span style=\";font-family:courier new;font-size:85%;\"  ><\/p>\n<pre>ctrl_interface=\/var\/run\/wpa_supplicant<br \/>ctrl_interface_group=0<br \/>eapol_version=1<br \/>ap_scan=2<br \/>fast_reauth=1<br \/><br \/># WPA-PSK<br \/>network={<br \/>ssid=\"BLAH\"<br \/>proto=WPA RSN<br \/>key_mgmt=WPA-PSK<br \/>pairwise=TKIP<br \/>group=TKIP<br \/>psk=aaaa3fa7bbbbccccf6d44e199ecb2bebccccad25a0778beeee104db0b3fffff7<br \/>}<br \/><\/pre>\n<p><\/span>The value of the PSK command was obtained by using the value associated with the prefix &#8220;psk=&#8230;&#8221; after issuing the following command:<\/p>\n<pre># wpa_passphrase BLAH passphrase<br \/>network={<br \/>       ssid=\"BLAH\"<br \/>       #psk=\"passphrase\"<br \/>       psk=aaaa3fa7bbbbccccf6d44e199ecb2bebccccad25a0778beeee104db0b3fffff7<br \/>}<br \/><\/pre>\n<p>The \/etc\/network\/interfaces looked like this:<\/p>\n<pre>auto lo<br \/>iface lo inet loopback<br \/><br \/>auto eth1<br \/>iface eth1 inet dhcp<br \/>wpa-conf managed<br \/>wpa-driver wext<br \/>wpa-ssid BLAH<br \/>wpa-ap-scan 2<br \/>wpa-proto RSN<br \/>wpa-pairwise TKIP<br \/>wpa-group TKIP<br \/>wpa-key-mgmt WPA-PSK<br \/>wpa-psk aaaa3fa7bbbbccccf6d44e199ecb2bebccccad25a0778beeee104db0b3fffff7<br \/>pre-up wpa_supplicant -Bw -Dwext -i eth1 -c\/etc\/wpa_supplicant.conf<br \/>post-down killall -q wpa_supplicant<br \/><\/pre>\n<p>Once I was done with this configuration all I had to do was, issue the following command to get wireless working with WPA2 and TKIP:<\/p>\n<pre># \/etc\/init.d\/networking restart<br \/><\/pre>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>So I decided to use WPA2 Personal with AES+TKIP on my new Linksys WRT54GL router after my old D-Link router died.
